Preaching Activities from November 27 to December 22, 2019

November 27 (Midweek service at Tuguegarao)

It is again the last Wednesday of the month and we are again having our singing service. Brother Jay led us in all our singing while I help by leading in our prayers. We only have an attendance of 14 because it is raining very hard. It is hard for our brethren to commute when it is raining. Passenger vehicles are only choosing whom they want to ride.

November 29 (Bible Study at Barocboc, Isabela)

We were invited to have a bible study in the congregation of brother Edgar Lingbawan. He is a former Pentecostal preacher and was baptized in to Christ when he attended our Gospel Meeting here in Tuguegarao. He invited us to preach in his congregation. They are all Pentecostal and so he wanted us to teach them also the truth. I help in leading a song and also shared to those who came by conversing with them. Brother Rody shared a lesson about “Death and Judgment”. After the preaching, 7 souls came in front to confess their faith. They were baptized in a near swimming pool. They can now start a new congregation in their area, but no as Pentecostals, but as Christians.

December 1 (Sunday worship at Tuguegarao and Palca)

I am give again the chance to share a lesson to the brethren at Tuguegarao in the morning. I shared a lesson about “Bible authority and truth” in a bible study manner. In the sermon, brother Rody preached on the text “1 John 3:1-24”.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I also shared to them the lesson “Bible authority and truth” in a bible study and added some points to make it a sermon. It is still raining very hard and many places were already flooded but thankfully, we still had a good attendance. After the worship, Girlie Domingo invited me to their newly built house and have a prayer of thanksgiving to God for giving them this blessing. I met her husband who is a welder and also talked to him about spiritual matters.

December 4 (Midweek service at Tuguegarao)

I should be teaching “Genesis 41” in our bible study but because of our problem of the rain that hinders are brethren to attend, we decided that we will only read the chapter and have singing class again. We wanted everyone to hear the lesson as we continue to study the book.

December 8 (Sunday worship at Tuguegarao and Palca)

In our bible study here in Tuguegarao, brother Jerome shared the lesson on “Heb 13:5-10T he Unchangeable Christ in a changing world”. And in the sermon, brother Rody preached about “Marriage, Divorce and Remarriage”. We are thankful that the rain already stops Thursday (December 5), but more places are flooded. For 34 years I’ve been living here in Tuguegarao, this is the first time I saw that 80% of the city is flooded. Thankfully, we are not flooded in our house.

In the afternoon at Palca, I preached to them the lesson “Why people blame God?”. During calamities, sickness, problems, death, etc, most people blame God for what is happening to them. But in this lesson, I showed to them that God is not worthy to be blame but to be worship. After the lesson, Girlie Domingo confess her faith and we baptized her in our baptistery. She has been attending our worship for almost two months and she also joined in our bible study at her mother’s house one month ago.

The brethren told me about their situation during the flood. I do not have any pictures of the actual flooding because the rain waters are already gone. They told me that their bibles, clothes are all wet and their rice field are destroyed. Please pray for them and if you have the chance to help them, please tell me, I will be willing to assist the benevolence you can provide.

After baptism, Mrs. Charito Fernandez and her fiancé Charles (a british citizen), asked me if I can go and have a funeral service at the wake of her father, Rizalino Fernandez. Mr. Rizalino has been attending our worship when he was still strong but was never baptized. He have been sickly and always in bed. I didn’t saw him for almost two years. But on his wake, they told me that he moved to his daughter’s house in the other village because no one will take care of him in his own house. Charito and Charles are members of the House of Worship in London and they just came home for the wake of their father. I preached a lesson on the place about “Death” and prayed for the family.

December 11 (Midweek service at Tuguegarao)

Our weather is already good and so our regular attendance on Wednesday’s is seen again. I now shared to them “Genesis 41” about the interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream.

December 15 (Sunday worship at Tuguegarao and Palca)

Brother Jerome taught again in our bible study and now he started the series of lesson on the book of Hebrews. He first shared to us the introduction of the book. In the sermon, brother Rody preached to us about the “Sin of Moses?”.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I invited brother Dennis Yuson to help me with the worship. I led the singing and prayer while he preached the lesson “If a man dies, shall he live again?”. Mrs. Charito and Mr. Charles are still with us and after the worship, we had discussion about faith and the church. They flew back to London December 18.

December 17 (Bible study at Lal-lo)

A radio listener from our program here in Tuguegarao invited us to have a bible study in his house. We went to Lal-lo. It is about 2 hours travel from here in Tuguegarao. He is Joe Embang, an avid listener to our radio program since 2004. Brother Rody shared a lesson on John 1:1-14. We encourage him to search the scriptures more and if he still have questions, we are very willing to give him the answer using only the bible.

December 18 (Thanksgiving service at Calantac and Midweek service at Tuguegarao))

We were invited to attend the thanksgiving of Beth Nolasco, the mother-in-law of brother Jay Gumpad who turned 60. She is a devoted Catholic but wanted us to have a service in her birthday. Brother Rody shared about “Giving thanks” and I help in leading the prayer.

In the evening, is our midweek service here at Tuguegarao. We are late when we arrived in the service that’s why I didn’t have the time to change my clothes. I shared to them Genesis 42 about the Sons of Jacob going to Egypt to buy grains and their meeting with Joseph, their brother whom they sold to slavery.

December 21 (Gospel Meeting at Alibago Church)

Brother Rody invited me to be one of the speakers in their Gospel Meeting. I am happy to see the growth of their congregation because I’ve been going to them on Sunday’s that brother Rody is in Manila or in some other places. From an attendance of below 10, they are now reaching 30 in attendance. The first speaker was brother Efren Respicio who preached about “The righteous, ungodly and sinner” and I preached last, and I shared the lesson “Set your goal”. We all have goals for our education, family, finances, career but the most important goal that we should focus on is our spiritual goal which is to be in heaven someday.

December 22 (Sunday worship at Tuguegarao and Palca)

In our bible study here at Tuguegarao, brother Jerome continued on the book of Hebrews and he focus on the phrase “Firstborn – Jesus”. In the sermon, brother Rody preached “Dangers with this time of the year”. After the worship, we were invited by Brother Mike and sister Elsa Darby in their house to have a prayer and meal. They will be living us and will moved to Alaska.

In the afternoon, the brethren at Alibago asked me again to come to them because brother Rody will be going to Minagbag, Quezon. I am thankful that they always invite me in their congregation. I also shared to them the lesson “Why do people blame God”.

November 5 (Gospel Meeting at Lacnog Church)

This was a very short notice of a gospel meeting. Brother Randy Lamarca called me a day before the Gospel Meeting to inform me that I am one of the speakers. I thank God for giving me the knowledge to prepare a lesson for our brethren in that congregation. It is an hour and a half travel from here. The other preacher in Lacnog is Marcos Allib. He was hospitalized a month ago and now he cannot walk. He have his wheel chair and he said that brethren from the US help him buy it. Thanks to God that he is now getting better from the stroke he got.

Three of us where speakers: brother Virgilio Bocarile was the first speaker and he preach about “Seek the Lord”. I followed the activity by preaching about “Salvation and Baptism”. And finally, brother Rody Gumpad preached also the lesson he shared to us in Tuguegarao last November 3 about “Where are the dead?”. He decided to preach this because here in the Philippines, every November 1, catholics and even brethren go to the cemetery to visit their loved ones. It is also a holiday here in the Philippines.

In the sermon, brother Rody continued on the series of lesson he is teaching about elders and this time he preached about “Elder’s wife”.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I also preached Romans 12:17-21, but this time, I made the lesson into a sermon type. November 14 (Visitation at the hospital)

I got a call at around 6 in the morning from sister Fermina Quines from Palca asking me to include in our prayers, her granddaughter Aeiouna Doran , the daughter of sister Jing, whose grandmother just died. She was diagnosed of amoebiasis. They were in the hospital November 11, and only yesterday (November 25) that they got out. Their baby needs her blood to be tested because they cannot locate the real cause why she keeps on having fever and lost of blood. The test will last for a month because the machine that will be used for the test is still in Manila. They needed to bring her blood there. Please pray for their baby, she is only 1 year old.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I preached to them “Why stop the chariot?”. We still have our Methodist visitors and I am trying to explain to them in this lesson that even though we are religious, sincere, good people, prayerful, etc., there is something we needed to do inorder to fulfill the command of God which is to hear the truth and be baptized into the name of Christ. Please help me in praying that they will soon obey the gospel before it’s too late.

November 18 (Thanksgiving service at Tuguegarao)

We were invited to the thanksgiving service by brother Jun Gumpad and Failyn Isla for the birthday of their son Thirdy Gumpad. Brother Rody preached a lesson on thanksgiving. There are some non-christian who attended which is their friends. Hope and pray they will also come and attend our services.

November 19 (Working on Charts)

While the typhoon is hitting our place, I am working on bible charts. I am trying to make as many as I can to share it to the brethren. I am sharing it on facebook and posting it on groups and pages.

November 20 (Midweek service at Tuguegarao)

Brother Jay shared to us Genesis 40 about the story of Joseph interpreting the dream of the cupbearer and baker. We have a very small attendance of below 20 because it keeps on raining hard all week long. Brethren cannot come because it is hard to get transportation vehicles.

They were the once who shared very good lessons.
