Preaching activities in the month of January 2026

 January 4 (Sunday Worships)

It is the first Sunday of the year, and we are once again grateful to the Lord for blessing us with good health and the precious opportunity to gather with the brethren here in Tuguegarao. Truly, it is a joy and encouragement to begin the year worshiping God together as one family in Christ.

During our Bible study, brother Lino Darauay shared with us from John 10:22–33, reminding us of the authority of Christ and the importance of standing firm in our faith. In the sermon, brother Rody preached the lesson, “The Christian in 2026,” which challenged and encouraged us to reflect on how we should live faithfully and responsibly as followers of Christ in the coming year.

After the worship, we were also blessed to have a thanksgiving fellowship with the brethren. Because of this, I asked brother Robert to go ahead to Palca, and by God’s grace, I followed later to Dagupan.

In Dagupan, the Lord allowed me to preach the lesson, “What a Christian Must Do?” I am thankful for the opportunity to share God’s word, and I humbly pray that the message may encourage the brethren to continue walking faithfully, serving the Lord, and growing in love and obedience to Him.

January 6 (Bible Study)

We were invited by brother Fernando Duque and brother Joeben Jacobo to visit Tupang, Alcala. By God’s grace, we went to the home of the Torrado family. Although they were busy with the repairs of their house, they kindly welcomed us and expressed their desire to have a Bible study with us. We are truly thankful for their openness and willingness to listen to the word of God despite their busy schedule.

During our visit, we were also given the opportunity to distribute Bible tracts within the area. We humbly pray that these efforts may plant seeds in the hearts of those who received them, and that the Lord will give the increase according to His will. We are grateful for the encouragement and hospitality shown to us, and we continue to trust God to guide and bless this work.

January 7

We were invited by brother Rogelio Esperanza to visit San Luis, Tuao. By God’s grace, we first went around a small part of the village to distribute Bible tracts, hoping that these simple materials may help lead souls to a better understanding of God’s word.

Afterward, we gathered for a Bible study at the house of one of the brethren. We are thankful for the opportunity to study the Scriptures together and to encourage one another in the faith.

It was also brother Rogelio’s birthday, and we took time to offer thanksgiving to God for the life He has given him, for His continued blessings, and for the strength and opportunities to serve Him.

In the evening, we gathered once again for our midweek service here in Tuguegarao. During the lesson, brother Rody continued the series on “Covenants in the Bible,” and this time he preached about God’s covenant with David. The lesson reminded us of God’s faithfulness to His promises and encouraged us to trust Him more fully as we seek to follow His will.

January 8

I went to Dagupan to work on our chapel. By God’s grace, we were able to begin working on the ceiling, knowing that the summer season is approaching. Without a proper ceiling, the heat inside the chapel can become very intense, which makes it difficult for the brethren to worship comfortably.

The work took several days to complete, as we were not able to do it on consecutive days because of other responsibilities and commitments. Nevertheless, we are thankful to the Lord for the strength He provided and for the brethren who helped whenever they were available.

January 10 (Gospel Meeting)

We went to Villa Salud for the Gospel Meeting, where brother Jerome Forelo serves as the local preacher. We are thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to gather with the brethren in that area and to share in the work of spreading the gospel.

By God’s grace, I was the first one to speak, and I shared the lesson “Anything: Philippians 4:13,” reminding us that our strength and ability to endure, serve, and remain faithful come only through Christ. This was followed by brother Jay, who preached the lesson “What Is the New Year’s Resolution That Is Acceptable to God,” encouraging the brethren to set spiritual goals that truly honor the Lord.

Finally, brother Rody concluded the meeting with the lesson “Two Things About a Christian This 2026,” which challenged and inspired us to live with faithfulness and commitment as we move forward in the year.

January 11 (Sunday Worships)

For our Bible study here in Tuguegarao, brother Lino continued his lesson from the book of John. This time, he discussed John 10:34–42, helping us better understand the message of Christ and the response of those who heard Him. In the sermon, brother Rody preached from Daniel chapter 5. The lesson reminded us of God’s sovereignty and the serious responsibility of honoring Him in our lives.

In the afternoon, in Palca, I was also given the opportunity to preach the lesson “What a Christian Must Do?” I am thankful to the Lord for allowing me to share His word and pray that the message may encourage the brethren to remain faithful in their daily walk as Christians.

In Dagupan, brother Jay was with us. I invited him and asked him to preach the same lesson he shared during the Gospel Meeting, entitled “What Is the New Year’s Resolution That Is Acceptable to God?”

After the worship, we visited the wake of Margie Castro. She was only 18 years old and passed away because of her illness, as she had heart problems. Although she was not a member of the Lord’s church, her mother is a faithful sister. We shared a short message from the Scriptures to offer comfort and hope, and we prayed with the family.

January 14 (Midweek Service)

The elders invited brother Reymund Welba from Tumauini to be our speaker. We are thankful for his willingness to come and share God’s word with us. He preached the lesson entitled “Foreigners and Strangers,” reminding us that as Christians, our true citizenship is in heaven and that we are only pilgrims in this world.

The lesson encouraged us to live faithfully, humbly, and with a clear focus on God’s will, knowing that our hope is not in earthly things but in the promises of the Lord. We are grateful for the message and humbly pray that it will continue to guide and strengthen us as we seek to live as faithful servants of Christ.

January 15 (Bible Study)

Brother Jay Gumpad invited us to Minagbag, Quezon for a home Bible study. By God’s grace, we went to the house of brother John Lingbawan, where we were warmly welcomed. We were also thankful that one of his neighbors joined us in the study, giving us another opportunity to share and study God’s word together.

During the study, brother Alex shared a meaningful lesson about Noah, reminding us of faith, obedience, and trust in God even in difficult times.

January 17

Two American brethren arrived here in Tuguegarao, and we were able to pick them up at the airport around noontime. We went directly to the Metro Tuguegarao Church for a short Bible study. This was my first time meeting and getting to know these two brethren, Mitch Davis and Sawyer Hudson, both from Tennessee.

This is the first time I have met them and might finally be the last also. I only found this out when they are already going back to the US (January 27) that they are in fellowship with institutional churches and also believe that while instrumental music is not authorized, it cannot be condemned. They also believe that social drinking is allowed. While I wish I had known this earlier, I humbly accept that the Lord allowed this encounter for His purpose, and I pray for wisdom in dealing with such situations in the future.

Before the study even began, brother Rody asked me to return to the airport because Mitch had mistakenly taken another bag that was the same size and color as his own. It took some time to sort everything out at the airport, and by the time we returned, the Bible study had already concluded and the brethren were singing the invitation song.

Despite the unexpected delay, we are truly thankful to God that one soul obeyed the gospel that day. He was an elder of the Anglican Church in Tabuk, and it was a joyful blessing to witness his baptism into Christ. We humbly thank the Lord for allowing us to be part of this special moment, and we pray that he will grow in faith and continue to serve faithfully.

January 18 (Sunday Worships)

In our Bible study here in Tuguegarao, brother Sawyer shared with us from Romans 8, reminding us of the hope, assurance, and victory we have in Christ despite the trials we face. His lesson encouraged us to trust fully in God’s promises and to live with confidence in His love and guidance. As of the writing of this report (February 3), it now made it clear to me why he seldom stops. Maybe he is trying to avoid speaking anything that we might know about the belief they are teaching. The brethren here at Tuguegarao are very knowledgeable when it comes to the truth.

In the sermon, brother Mitch preached about “The Power of the Cross,” reminding us of the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ and how it enables us to overcome sin, live righteously, and draw near to God.

During the invitation, we were blessed to witness another soul obey the gospel. Sister Rowena Abrenica, who has been attending our worship for almost two months, finally decided to commit her life to Christ through baptism. We are truly joyful and humbled to see her take this important step, and we pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen her faith and guide her in her walk as His child.

In the afternoon, at Palca, brother Robert preached the lesson “The Love of God.” We are grateful for his effort to remind us of God’s unfailing love and mercy. At this time, many of our brethren who are students have already gone back to the towns where they are studying, so the congregation was smaller than usual. It is the same with the brethren in Dagupan. Thankfully, some of them are studying here in Tuguegarao and were still able to join us, and it was encouraging to see them participate in worship and continue growing in the faith.

In Dagupan, I had the opportunity to preach the lesson about “Christians and Social Media.” We discussed the responsibilities of Christians in using these platforms wisely, how to honor God in our online presence, and the importance of using social media for good rather than harm.

January 21

We were invited by brother Jimmy Duque to visit Calamagui, Amulung. By God’s grace, we were able to distribute Bible tracts again, going house to house near the chapel and sharing the message of God’s word with the people in the area.

Afterwards, we had a Bible study at the house of Mr. Junior Duque, who is the uncle of brother Jimmy. We humbly pray that the Lord will open his heart to understand and accept the truth of the gospel. It is always a blessing to share God’s word, and we trust that He will work in His perfect time to bring souls to Himself.

In the evening, we gathered for our midweek service here in Tuguegarao. By God’s grace, we invited brother Jimmy Domingo to speak to us, and he shared the lesson “Marks of a True and Faithful Christian.” His message reminded us of the qualities and attitudes that should characterize every follower of Christ, encouraging us to examine our own lives and strive to live faithfully in obedience to God’s word.

January 22-24

I went again to Dagupan to continue the work on our chapel. By the help and grace of God, we were able to finish installing the ceiling, making it ready for the summertime. We are thankful that the brethren who helped were able to give their time and effort despite their other responsibilities.

January 25 (Sunday Worships)

For our Bible study here in Tuguegarao, brother Lance began his part of the book of John. This time, he discussed John 11:1–27, helping us reflect on the account of Lazarus and the power, compassion, and timing of our Lord. His lesson reminded us to trust in God’s wisdom and care, even in difficult circumstances.

In the sermon, brother Flor preached about “The Second Coming of Christ,” encouraging us to live with readiness, faithfulness, and hope as we await the return of our Lord.

It is again the last Sunday of the month, and it is remarkable how quickly time flies. Brother Robert went to Dagupan, while I went to Palca. There, I had the opportunity to preach the lesson “Christians and Social Media,” reminding the brethren of their responsibility to honor God in the digital world and use these platforms wisely.

January 28

We were invited by brother Dennis Yuson to visit Aquib, Piat. By God’s grace, we were able to distribute Bible tracts in the market, sharing the message of God’s word with the people in the area.

Afterwards, we went to the house of his in-laws for a Bible study. Brother James shared a meaningful lesson entitled “What Is It in Your Hands?” The lesson encouraged us to reflect on the gifts, opportunities, and responsibilities God has entrusted to each of us, and how we can faithfully use them for His glory.

In the evening, during our midweek service here in Tuguegarao, we were blessed to have another invited speaker, brother Mariano Verhera. This was my first time meeting him, and I am thankful for the opportunity to learn from his experience and dedication to the Lord’s work. (I hope I spelled his last name correctly.)

According to brother Rody, brother Mariano has been a preacher of the Lord’s church since the 1990s, faithfully serving for many years. During the service, he shared a lesson from the book of Ephesians, encouraging us to grow in faith, unity, and love as members of the body of Christ.
