Preaching activities from February 2- March 5, 2025

February 2 (Sunday Worships)

For the start of the month, we have brother Zach Bangi start on the 19th chapter of the book of  Luke from verses 1-10. He have been scheduled to teach before but was unable. This time, he finally got a chance to share. He is still young and have a lot of things to do for the church. In the sermon, brother Rody discussed the book of 1 Samuel.

When the worship is over, there are two who came to us in front while I was counting our collection. They wanted to obey the gospel and so they made their confession and I was able to immersed them in water.

In the afternoon at Palca, brother Robert Rances preached to us the lesson “Spiritual stone”. We have young people coming back to church here because I am contacting them in facebook and trying to encourage them to go back. I tried visiting them in their houses during the week but all houses are close. Students are in school and others are in the fields.

In Dagupan, I was able to preach the lesson “Great faith of Noah”.  The weather is still rainy and cold that’s why we feel comfortable but when summer comes, it will be very hot inside the chapel again. Our ceiling is still undone.

February 5 (Midweek Service)

We picked up brother Kevin Stilts and his family in the airport early Wednesday morning and they are with us for two weeks. He was able to teach in our midweek service about “A true zeal for the Lord”. This is the first time that a whole family of American brethren came here.

February 7

We picked up brother Ron Halbrook in the airport and we traveled by land going to Ballesteros which is about 2 and a half hours drive. He asked me, Jerome and Jay to accompany him.

February 8 (Gospel Meetings)

Our first destination in Ballesteros is at Cabaritan Church where brother Jun and Sherwin Miranda are preaching. Brother Ron was asked to teach two lessons. The chapel was full with brethren from Cabuluan Church joining. It was a non-stop rain for the whole day and the winds are very strong but it didn’t stop us to come. Two confessed their faith after the sermon and they were baptized in the sea.

In the afternoon, we went to Payagan Church where brother Johnson Ramil is preaching. Brother Ron was able to preach again. This time, it was very difficult to listen because of the rain. The roof is very noisy. Thankfully, their are two who surrendered their souls and obeyed the gospel.

February 9 (Sunday Worships)

From Ballesteros, we traveled to Apayao. We went to San Carlos Church where brother Sammy Vargas is preaching. I’ve been in contact with him for many years now and this is the first time that I saw him personally. He have kidney problems that’s why he is unable to join in lectureships anywhere. Brother Ron preached the lesson Finish the race. Invitation was extended and there were 5 who confessed their faith.

In the afternoon, we went to Nararagan Church. It is a new congregation handled by brother Sammy and his co-preachers. We only had the worship at the front of a brother’s house. Brother Ron preached the lesson “God is our shepherd and king”. Invitation was again extended and two preacious soul obeyed the gospel.

After the worship it Nararagan, we traveled back to Tuguegarao. It was already 6pm when we got back home. We thank God for the safe travels.

February 11 (Gospel Meetings)

Brother Ron flew to Australia while brother Kevin Stilts and his family are still with us. We went to the Gospel Meeting at Aquib Church where brother Dennis Yuson is preaching. The first speaker was brother Edgar Licodini and he preached on Joshua 2. Brother Kevin followed immediately and he preached about the One true church. In the announcement before he stands, brother Rody said he will do the summarization but when Kevin ends his sermon, they called me to do the summary. I was surprise but it is ok because I can follow the lesson he shared.

In the afternoon, we went to Nabialan Church where brother Jun Antonio is preaching. Brother Kevin preached about “Basic need for authority”. They also have a guest american brother named Dave Gatewood from Colorado. He is not a preacher but a faithful christian who visited brother Jun here in the Philippines.

February 12 (Gospel Meeting)

Finally, we had our first Gospel Meeting for this year in Dagupan Church. Brethren from Palca also came to join. The brethren in San Luis planned to come also but we had a brother who died there and it was also the day of his burial.

Brother Kevin preached a good lesson about the “Destiny of man”. Brother Jerome summarized the lesson. It was raining again during that time that we need to put our speakers in full because it is hard to hear the sermon. The two children of Kevin also lead songs in the meeting. We do not have any conversion but we have one visitor.

In the evening, in our midweek service here at Tuguegarao, brother Kevin preached about “Lamentations 3:40 - examine our ways and turn back to the Lord”. Invitation was extended and one precious soul obeyed the gospel.

February 13 (Gospel Meetings)

We started to travel early going to the town of Sta. Ana. We went to Limbus Church where brother Alex Lagat is preaching. I think 4 congregations were in attendance in the meeting. Brother Kevin preached the lesson “value of the soul” and again, they surprise me in the end of the sermon that I will summarized. This hasn’t been done in other Gospel Meetings because they announce in the beginning who will summarized. But it has been done twice for me. It’s ok because I also like it especially when speaking in front of the church. It is not just summarizing the lesson but added some points that applies to us Filipinos. I know more about my fellow filipinos than our guests. Invitation was extended and 5 precious souls obeyed the gospel. There was a river just 100 meters away from the meeting place and that’s where we baptized them.

February 14 (Gospel Meeting)

We stayed for the night in Sta Ana and traveled early again in the morning going to the town of Gonzaga. We went to Santa Clara Church. It was again raining hard but when we started the meeting, it suddenly stops. Brother Kevin preached about “God, are you there? Do you care?”. Brother Rolly Salvador is with us and so we passed to him the summarization. 8 souls confessed their faith after the sermon. When we are going to the river, the rain started to pour again. We traveled back to Tuguegarao after the baptism.

February 16 (Sunday worships)

For the continuation of our study in the book of Luke, Zach shared to us chapter 19:11-27. In the sermon, I was asked to preach and I shared the lesson “It doesn’t say not to”.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I also shared the same lesson “It doesn’t say not to”. After the sermon, invitation was extended and one young man confess his faith. He is Reine Quines who comes from a faithful family of christians. His grandfather where among those first converts in the area.

In Dagupan, it was brother Robert who preached and he shared “Eph 5:15-16 Redeeming the time”.

February 19 (Bible study)

We were invited by brother Jayson Tanguilan in Illuru, Rizal for a home bible study. Brother Jerome Forelo and Dave Gatewood shared good lessons for the family.

In the evening, in our midweek service, brother Rody preached “For what is Christ not coming for?”.

February 20 (Bible Study)

We again went to San Luis, Tuao for another home bible study. Brother Jay Gumpad and Dave preached. Brother Dave is not really a preacher and so when he share, it is only for about 5-10 minutes. It is short but encouraging.

February 22

The elders here at Tuguegarao invited me in their meeting and formally appoint me us one of their preachers. They asked for my inputs and I gladly shared. We will be having our Gospel Meeting on April 18-20 and a one day youth lectures on April 26th. We also arranged our schedules of who will teach every Wednesday and Sunday.

February 23 (Sunday Worships)

For our bible study here at Tuguegarao, brother Zach shared the final part of his lesson on Luke 19:28-48. And in the sermon, brother Rody preached “Christ our example”.

It is the last Sunday of the month once again and so we needed to moved our schedule of worship in Palca and Dagupan at 12pm. Brother Robert went to Palca while I preached in Dagupan about “It doesn’t say not to”.

February 24-26 (Preacher’s Lectureship)

Monday (Feb. 23), 15 of us preachers here in Tuguegarao took a bus going to the lectures in Pasay, Manila. It was a lecture initiated by brother Ron Halbrook with the theme “Preachers help preachers reach heaven”. We have a good lists of speakers that came from alll over the Philippines.

Speakers: Ron Halbrook, Rody Gumpad, Jonathan Carino, Lordy Salonga, Jack Jaco, Elias Cruz, Julie Notarte, Jolly Julom, Willie Pastor and Dario Belviz.

On the second day of the lectures, I was hit by cough and got a fever, Thankfully, I was still able to join and finished all the lessons. We went back home Friday evening and until now (March 7), the writing of this blog, I am still not doing well.

March 1

We arrived 8am in the morning coming from our trip in Manila and 10am, I brought my daughter to the doctor for follow-up check up because she still doesn’t fell well since I left them. She needed to have x-ray, ecg and cbc. The result shows she have dengue and pneumonia. She was hospitalized in that evening.

March 2 (Sunday Worship)

I didn’t attend the worship her in Tuguegarao because I am the one who took care of our daughter in the hospital. My wife and two kids attended though. In the afternoon, my wife was in the hospital and so I went to the worship at Palca.

We have a guest American brother from Marion Street Church. He is one of their elders, brother Jerry Sandlin. He preached a good lesson about “Who is your father?” while they asked me to translate for him even though my mind is tired. I still manage to do that job and thankful for the opportunity to serve our brethren. The brethren at Dagupan also joined us in our worship because it is the only schedule that our american brother has for us.

March 5 (Midweek Service)

In our midweek service, our brethren at Marion Church came and joined us. Two of them shared a good lesson. Brother Jerry preached about “Bride of Christ” while brother Alan Yeater preached on “Acts 2”.
