March 29, we again have
our preachers’ bible study here in Tuguegarao where preachers from different
areas here in Cagayan gathered together to study God’s word. Brother Rody shared to us the entire book of “Revelation”. We studied the doctrines
that denominations teaches using verses in this book and studied well what this
verses really means so that we can help each other understand and answer this
denomination preachers when they come to us.
March 30, I invited brother Jerome, Jay and Edgar to
join me in distributing bible tracts and invitations for our upcoming gospel
meeting at Palca. We went from house to house in three different villages
(Palca, Angang and Dagupan). We met member of the Jehovah’s witnesses who are
not willing to accept the tracts we are giving because according to them, they
are not allowed by their church leaders. But I insist on giving it to them and
so they accepted it. I pray that they will read it and understand what the
bible really says. We finished giving out tracts for about three hours under
the heat of the sun. We are experiencing 36 degrees Celsius during that time
that we became exhausted after the work.
In the
evening, we had our midweek service where brother Rody teach in our study on “Romans
11”.
March 31, we went to
the Gospel Preaching at Capadeco,
Gonzaga where brother Alex Lagat is preaching. We traveled at around 7 in
the morning and arrived there at about 9:30. Brother Edgar Licodini was the first to preach, and it the lesson was
entitled “Who needs to be saved?”
then followed by brother Jerome with
the lesson “According to the scripture”
and finally brother Rody preached “Three Deaths”. We sung the invitation
song after all the lessons and we are very happy again that four souls are joyfully accepting the
gospel. We baptized them in the near river.
The brethren
in this congregation are very much needing our help and prayers. They are only
living in small tent houses that if it rains, they have the fear that it might
be washed out or blown away by strong winds. The kids might look well, but I
think some of them have some kind of skin diseases already or even unhealthy
body.
By the grace
of God, brethren from Pruitt Church of Christ in the USA sends some clothing
relief for the brethren at Capadeco. We distributed the clothes to them and we
got a very good response from the brethren because you can see how happy they
are. The help might be just small for some, but to them, it is a wonderful help
from the Lord and from the brethren. I pray that many more brethren will help
them in their needs.
April 1, we had our Gospel Meeting in Palca. We’ve been
praying for it for almost a month and finally, the Lord gave us the chance to
share the message of the Lord to the brethren with the help of the invited
speakers. Our first speaker was brother Edgar
Licodini who came from Bliss, Ilagan and he needed to travel for about 2
hours to reach Palca. He preached about “True
Faith”. The second speaker was brother Reneboy
Maranion, who came from Maddela, Quirino (about 4 hours travel) and he
preached about “The needs of the church
to grow”, in the picture below, you can see the lesson in our Ilocano language
as it is the one he use in preaching. The third speaker was brother Willie Otey Pastor who came from
Cabarroguis, Quirino (also 4 hours travel) and he preached about “The Corinthian Church”. In the
afternoon, brother Rody preached
about “The Historical Periods in the
bible”. We extended the invitation after the lessons preached but there
were no response from the visitors. We have three visitors(non-christians) who
came in the meeting and all of them are Roman Catholics. I hope and pray that
they will continue to come in the church and join us in our studies. We have
invited many to join us in the gospel meeting, but only the three of them came.
Maybe because it was during this day that Graduation Ceremonies in different
schools are being held. Even our own brethren, some of them are not in
attendance.
April 2, we went to
the Gospel Meeting at San Luis, Tuao
where brother Rogelio Esperanza is preaching. I am the first speaker and I preached about “Umuna ken kasayaatan” or
in English “First and Best”. The second speaker was brother Robert Pader who preached about “Am I growing weak or strong?” brother Jerome preached as the third speaker
with the lesson “The scripture teaches”
and finally brother Rody, the last
speaker preached “Jesus said: Learn of
Me”. We all prepared our powerpoint outlines that should be shown in the
projector but unluckily, the whole village is black out or no electricity. The
inside of the chapel was very hot and it is very hard to breathe, but because
we are studying God’s word, nothing had stop us in doing what we know is good
for our souls. After the lessons preached, we extended the invitation, and three souls came in front to confess their
faith. One of them is the eldest of brother Rogelio’s kids. They were baptized
in the near river.
April 3, in our
Sunday worship here at Tuguegarao, brother Jun
taught in our bible study about “The
cart before the horse” and brother Rody preached in the sermon about “Envy”. We have visitors who are running for a government position
in our city and they gladly joined us in worship and really listening to the preaching.
We also held a thanksgiving prayer for the two babies. One is the daughter of
sister Myrna delos Santos and one is the son of sister Joy. Sister Myrna is the
mother of sister Joy. In short, both mother and daughter have their babies be
prayed for thanksgiving to God.
In the
afternoon at Palca, I preached to them about
“Examples not worthy to be followed”. I use the example of Paul with the
Israelites whom God help leave Egypt, but on their way going to the promised
land, sins reign in their hearts that many of them are killed because of
disobedience. An example we should not follow.
April 6, in the
afternoon, we went to Pussian, Alcala
where brother Jeoben Jacobo and brother Fernando Duque is preached. I was asked to preached to them and the
lesson is entitled “Does anyone have the right to his own belief?” I choose
this lesson because they told me that they have visitors who are catholics and
also Jehovah’s witnesses. The second to preach was brother Jun who preached “Cart
before the horse”. We extended the invitation but no response from
them. After the study, we approached them and they told us that they wanted to
hear more and praying that God will guide them in the right path toward God’s
truth.
In the
evening, we had our midweek service here at Tuguegarao. Brother Denis Yuson came and so we asked him to
preach to us. He preached “Things that
are deadly”. He showed us the kind of sins some of us are guilty even
though we are Christians and with God’s help in His words, he showed us the
right things we needed to do.
