Actvities from September 11-22

September 11, in our midweek service, brother Rody taught on “Matthew 20” about the Parable of the workers in the vineyard, Jesus predicting his death the third time, Request of a mother and the two blind man.

September 12, we went to the thanksgiving of brother Jun Gumpad for the first birthday of their daughter Keisha and also to give thanks to the Lord for their newly built house. Brother Rody shared a lesson about “Thanksgiving”.

September 13, brother Jun and I traveled to Manila. I should not be going this time but brother Rody beg me to go and help brother Jun clean the meeting place because the owner of the building calls, telling brother Rody that the faucet in their room was left open and water from other rooms are already leaking. So I accepted his request and also to help brother Jun because he is still sick at that time.

September 14, we arrived at Manila. It is raining the whole time that it is hard for us to go out. We cleaned the meeting place for just half a day. What the owner told brother Rody is not true, we expected that the room is dirty but when we arrived everything is fine. According to brother Leonard, the one who went to the meeting place who check the room when they called, it was only droplets from the faucet and not even reaches the floor. So after cleaning, I worked on my PowerPoint outline the whole time.

September 15, in our Lord’s Day service at Manila in Edsa-Pasay Congregation, I taught in our bible study about “Overcome sin”, I shared six different ways to overcome sin.
1.   Know and depend completely on God’s word
2.   Believe in God’s goodness and generosity
3.   Trust God’s commands as expression of utmost love.
4.   Do not experiment with sin
5.   Focus your desires on what is godly and acceptable
6.   Follow God’s warnings
In the sermon, brother Jun preached about “What are you willing to give up?” We had a good reaction from the audience because they are really listening intently and are reacting to every examples and questions we asked. It is very encouraging for me to continue to preach when the listeners are like them.

In the evening, we traveled back to Tuguegarao. We are almost late when we arrived at the bus station because of the traffic and continuous rain.

September 17, in our preachers’ bible study, brother Rody preached in the morning about “9 Major problems of the Corinthian Church” and in the afternoon we had an open forum.

September 18, in our midweek service, brother Rody taught on “Matthew 21”. It is about Jesus coming to Jerusalem, Jesus in the temple, Jesus curse the fig tree, The Authority of Jesus questioned, parable of two sons, and parable of the tenants.

September 19-21, typhoon struck Tuguegarao and the entire province of Cagayan. I should be going to Palca on the 21st but they sent me a text message telling me that we should cancel for now because of the heavy rain.

September 22, after the typhoon came out the sun. Again, it is very hot as usual. In our Lord’s Day service, brother Jun taught “What are you willing to give up?” and in the sermon, brother Jerome preached “The things that are God’s.”

In the afternoon, at Palca, I preached to them about “Uproot Worry.” I again shared to them Six(6) things that give s worries in our lives that we should uproot:
1.   Lies and the Exposure of lies
2.   Greed or Covetousness
3.   Pride
4.   Men-pleasing
5.   Excessive love for the world
6.   Planting bad seeds
We had a good attendance of 42 at that time because all the students who are studying in Tuguegarao came home for the weekend and also we had again Grace who is attending with us already for to months.

Activities from August 25-September 10

August 25, in our Lord’s Day service here at Metro Tuguegarao, brother Jun taught “Faith in action”, the kind of faith that a child of God should have and the works needed to complete everything.  In the sermon, brother Jerome preached about “Judge Not…”, we should not always be quick in our all our judgment. There are still many things to consider before judging a person. The problem might be us and not them.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I preached to them about “Sum or Some” in Psalm 119:160 wherein it says “The sum of your word is truth…” This sometimes become “SOME” because of what other denominations do and even Christians because sometimes we just do that things we wanted to follow from the bible and disregard those that might irritate our ears. To be a true Christian, we need to follow the “SUM” of God’s word and to trust only in HIM.

August 27, in our preachers’ bible study, brother Rogelio Esperanza preached to us “1 Corinthians 2”. The chapter tells us of what we needed to think when we share God’s word, it is not our own words that we use or our intelligence but all come from the teachings of Christ. As a preacher, we stand in front of the pulpit not to impress the audience but as Paul has said, “And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” (vv.1-5)

August 28, in our midweek service here at Tuguegarao, brother Jerome taught in our bible study on “Matthew 18” wherein we study about “The greatest in the kingdom, what cause man to stumble, the parable of the lost sheep, dealing with sin in the church and the unmerciful servant.”

August 31, I went to Palca and visit the brethren from house to house. I first went to one our contacts, Felipe Sabado who is a member of a Methodist church and became a Catholic. He was on her way out when I got in their house, but he gave me a little time to share the gospel about the true church and gave him a bible tract that I made. Next, I went to visit brother Rodolfo Duran, who is baptize long ago before I became their preacher at Palca. He never did came to any services when I was there because of what happened when their first preacher, before brother Rody, made a bad impression by touching the ladies. I insisted that going to the church is not to worship or look at the preacher, but to study God’s word and by that we will have faith on His words and not the preacher. His reason is also my problem for so long because when we distribute bible tracts, some of the people say that “We are all the same, what the first preacher did, we will also do it”, that is their thinking. But I think, that is only there excuse not to go to the church because of their vices. Many young people in Palca is another problem of mine, because when they reach college, they go to other cities to study, like here in Tuguegarao, but because their parents are not with them, they started to think that they are already free and can do whatever they like. I have heard that some of them are already drinking and smoking. That breaks my heart when I heard it. Their parents are very faithful in the church and giving their best for their children, but because of the tactics of Satan, this is happening to them. I am soliciting your prayers for this young people that someday they will realized every mistake they are doing.

September 1, in our Lord’s Day service here at Metro Tuguegarao, brother Jun taught in our bible study about “Gehazi, the servant of Elisha” who because of greediness with material wealth suffer the consequences of his actions. In the sermon, brother Jerome preached about “The one you feed most”. The make use of wolf as an example, there is the bad side and the good side, which every you feed the most, doing the works of the spirit or the works of the flesh, that will reign in your life.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I preached to them about “Overcoming Sin”. This is a series of lesson I am working right now to answer the question “What are the steps to happiness and well-being?” The things we needed to overcome sin are:
1.   Know and completely depend on God’s word
2.   Believe in God’s goodness and generosity
3.   Trust God’s commands as expression of utmost love
4.   Do not experiment with sin
5.   Focus your desires on what is godly and acceptable
6.   Follow God’s warnings
7.   Reject every temptation

September 3, in our preachers’ bible study, brother Jay taught to us on “Intertestamental period” which I hardly cannot follow everything because of many periods and events that we cannot read in the bible. In my mind, I am asking “What is the importance of studying this where in fact it is not written in the bible and Paul said that the scripture is sufficient for us to have salvation. That’s why, when I have time, I am researching on the internet about this things and so to find out the real essence of studying this history.

September 4, in our midweek service, brother Efren taught to us on “Matthew 19”. The divisions of the lesson are:
1.   Marriage and Divorce
2.   The Little Children and Jesus
3.   Who are the rich and the kingdom of God.

September 5, brother Sherwin, July and I went to Palca and work on our church building. We made a sign in front of the chapel so that those who are passing can see it. Brother Sherwin made the letterings while I and July help him with other things. If it is in the computer, than I can easily make designs, but when it comes to manually doing it, even my hand writing is not good.

The one sitting with the red shirt is a drunk man who is trying to debate with brother Sherwin about being a christian. He insist that he will only go to church when the time is already near which we all do not know when it is.

September 7, I went again to Palca for house to house. This time, I went to Ms. Grace Daquioag house. I am not related to her but she came from where my father was born. She is attending with us together with her cousin, Vanessa Duran for a month already. I shared to them the importance of being a Christian. Hope and pray that someday, they will both obey the gospel.

September 8, in our Lord’s day service her at Tuguegarao, I was asked to teach in our bible study because brother Jun got a fever and asthma. I preached about “Receiving the miracles of Christianity” which sometimes, people don’t consider a miracle that happened in their life. Here are the parts of the lesson which we might consider a miracle a Christians receive:
1.   Creation – God made everything and man was mandated to manage all other creations
2.   Impartation of God to Human – when he breathed into man the breath of life
3.   Incarnation of God – when Jesus became human and live among us, to relate with us
4.   Impartation of Man to God – when Jesus died on the cross taking every sin man committed for us to have salvation
5.   God’s death and resurrection
6.   Re-creation of man – 2 Corinthians 5:17
In the sermon, brother Jerome preached about “Shine as lights”. We need to show our lights to everyone with all our good works associated with it.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I preached the same lesson about “Receiving the miracles of Christianity”.

September 10, in our preachers’ bible study, brother Ronel Octoman taught to us “1 Corinthians 4” as the nature of true stewards of God.

Preaching activities from October 1 - November 3, 2024
