Calendar of Activities for the month of January 2012

Preachers Bible Study - January 31, 2012

We started the day with a visitor coming from Alibago, Enrile where brother Jerome Forelo is preaching. She is attending the services their for a long time and decided to come to Tuguegarao and be baptized into Christ. In the image, in front of the brethren, she confess her faith and was baptized.

After the baptism, we continued to study the book of Revelation. We are now on chapter 4:1-5:14. Brother Gerald Ganela stand in front to share to us on the topic. We finished the first three verses in the morning about God's magnificense and as the whole chapter shows "The Throne Scene". The throne that we can read signifies God's majesty and power. We also studied that our affairs rest in the hands not of men but of God.
In the afternoon, brother Larry Guillermo continued to share on the topic. We finished from 4:4-4:11. It talks about "The Twenty-Four Elders" which signifies the totality of God's people. Another are the beast that we can read in the chapter which represents or symbolizes God's whole creation. Our whole study is all based on the commentary of brother Weldon Warnock who was known to be a preacher also of the Church of Christ.

Update on the works from January 24-29

January 24 - We continued to study the book of Revelation wherein we are now at Revelation 2:2-3:22 that is entitled "Jesus Amidst the Churches". Here we studied about the seven churches of Asia and saw whether or not they are strong enough to endure persecutions from that time and how we can handle also our persecutions this time.

January 25 - In our midweek service, we studied "Psalm 129 and Psalm 130" with the help of brother Jay Gumpad. He talk about the many times that the enemies they afflicted the writer which is said to be David and also the cry of David to the Lord for all his supplications.

January 29 - In our Sunday service here at Tuguegarao, we studied on "Ephesus:Examples of Obedience" that brother Jun Gumpad taught. He showed to us how they become Christians and why they become good examples for each one of us.In our sermon, brother Jerome Forelo preached to us about "While Men Slept" and he started the lesson by reading to us the Parable of the Tares. We need always to be awake because the Devil is like a roaring like seeking to devour us in anytime especially on our weakest moment.

In the afternoon, in Palca, I preached to them about "What Diseases Cannot do to us". I shared to them that even though our body is weak, it will not affect our spiritual lives, that even though it will often time takes the life of a man, it will not take the hope of eternal life within us if we strive to continue on our faith and always trusting in the Lord.

Gospel Meeting at Mamnama, Jones, Isabela

Together with brothers Jerome Forelo, Jay Gumpad, Manny Pader and July Aguinaldo and me; we started to travel going to Namnama, Jones, Isabela at around seven in the morning. The road going to Isabela is good but when we arrived in the village of Namnama, this is the kind of road we need to pass. We used the car of bro. Jerome because it is much higher than my car. But even though it is high, it still hits the ground. We need to get out from the car two times to look for the right path. It is about 30 minutes travel from the highways to the place of worship.

This is the place where the brethren worship at Namnama. It is an open stadium that can be used by anyone in the village because it is a public place and it built by the government. They are allowed to assemble in this place because one of the members is the chieftain of the village. We arrived at about 10:30 in the morning; that means we travel for about 3 and a half hours. It should only take 3 hours but because we asked for directions on our way, that takes us so much time.

Bro. Lorenzo Lazaro, the preacher at San Agustin stand as the emcee for the whole duration of the Gospel Meeting. Brother Isagani Lamug is the local preacher in the congregation wherein he is traveling for about 22km just to arrived in this place every time he goes here.

The first speaker was bro. Robert Rances who preached about "Are you ready when Christ will come?", then followed by bro. Edgar Licodini who shared to them about "Family Living" for all the christians. We didn't heard them preached because they started early for about 9 in the morning. When we arrived, they asked immediately brother Jerome to stand in front and also share God's word to them. He preached to us about "Cornelius and Salvation". A good lesson that inspires everyone to be like Cornelius that even though we are faithful, righteous, of good moral character, we still need to follow God's command of believing on Him and to be baptized into His might name. The last speaker was bro. Rody who shared to us about " The blessing behind conditions", the title of his lesson is in ilocano(our language) so I just translated it in English for you to understand. He shared a very good lesson about this that in every conditions that God is giving us, their is always a blessing after that if we trust and obey Him. After sharing this topic, he also discuss about "The original members of the Church of Christ", showing to the non-christians the true meaning of christianity and the one and only true church that we can read in the bible.

After the lessons discussed, we all sung the invitation song to extend the invitation of Christ to all the lost souls. We are happy to see four precious souls ready to give their lives to be disciples of Christ.
All in all, the Gospel Meeting is a great success not only for the four new brethren but because of encouraging words that are uttered again from the words of God.
