Preaching activities from July 2-31

July 2 (Gospel Meeting)

I was invited to be one of the speakers at the Dumabato Church in Maddela, Quirino. The trip took us almost four hours due to heavy traffic caused by ongoing road construction, which unfortunately made us arrive late for the event.

Brother Otey Pastor was the first speaker, and by the time we arrived, he was already finishing his lesson. I was scheduled to speak second. Brother Reneboy Maranion, the local preacher, had asked me two days before the gospel meeting to prepare a lesson on how women can help in the growth of the church. Since I had previously prepared a different topic, I had to create a new one titled “Woman of Purpose.”

The final speaker was Brother Rody, who delivered an impactful lesson on “Things That Can Destroy Faith.”

After the messages, an invitation was extended, and four individuals responded, stepping forward to confess their faith. We joyfully baptized them in a nearby river, giving praise to God for adding new souls to His kingdom.

July 5

We traveled to Gonzaga, Cagayan upon the invitation of Brother Rody to celebrate their wedding anniversary. It was a joyful time of fellowship and thanksgiving with family and brethren.

During our stay, we were blessed to be visited by some of our brethren from Sta. Marcela. We took the opportunity to hold a Bible study with them. It was a meaningful time of reflection and sharing God’s Word.

We are especially thankful that during this gathering, one young lady, Ara Mae, responded to the gospel. She made the decision to obey Christ in baptism, and we baptized her in a pool at the resort where we were staying.

We give all the glory to God for opening hearts and for every opportunity to share His Word—even in the most unexpected moments.

July 6 (Sunday Worships)

In our Bible study here in Tuguegarao, Brother Rody continued with the introduction to the Book of John, helping us gain a deeper understanding of its background and message.

During the sermon, he preached from Esther 6, focusing on how God works behind the scenes to fulfill His purposes—even when He is not mentioned by name. It was a powerful reminder of God's providence and faithfulness in the lives of His people.

In the afternoon service at Palca, Brother Dave approached me and asked if he could take my place to preach. This was a special request, as it would be his last Sunday with us before moving to Tuguegarao to begin his college studies.

I gladly gave him the opportunity, and he delivered a powerful and heartfelt lesson entitled “Prepare Ourselves.” His message encouraged everyone to reflect on their spiritual readiness and commitment to God.

At the time of writing this report, Brother Dave is now worshipping with us here in Tuguegarao, and we are thankful to still have him in fellowship, just in a different location.

In Dagupan, I also had the opportunity to share the lesson “Woman of Purpose.” I believed it was a timely and relevant message, especially because the majority of the members there are women.

This lesson is meant to encourage and empower the women in the church to recognize their vital role in the growth and health of the congregation.

In Palca, we only have four men, not including myself and Brother Robert. In Dagupan, there are more men compared to Palca, yet the women still make up the larger portion of the congregation.

It is a great encouragement to see the active participation of our sisters in the faith, and my prayer is that the message continues to inspire them to serve with purpose and conviction.

July 8 (Bible study)

We were invited by Brother Rogelio Esperanza to visit the brethren in Bikuc, Tuao. There is no local church established in that area, so the believers there attend worship at the Santo Tomas Church whenever possible.

Our first visit was to the Valleroso family. Although I regret that I cannot recall the sister’s name, we learned that her son is currently undergoing dialysis. We had the opportunity to study with them, focusing especially on teaching her son about the true church and the importance of obedience to the gospel.

After our visit, we took a little time for Bible tract distribution in the area, planting seeds of the Word and praying for open hearts.

We then traveled to Santo Tomas with the intent to visit another sister, but she wasn’t home at the time, as she was also undergoing dialysis at the center. Instead, we visited her neighbor, a friend of Brother Rogelio, and were blessed to hold another Bible study there.

July 9 (Bible study)

We traveled to Catarauan, Amulung, where Brother Jun Antonio is faithfully preaching and serving the congregation.

Our visit began with a Bible tract distribution around the area to reach out to the community and share the Word of God. Afterward, we took time to visit a few brethren, encouraging them in their faith.

One of our stops was at the home of the Bueno family, where we were warmly welcomed. We held a Bible study with them, and I was also asked to preach a lesson during our time there.

It was a fruitful and encouraging visit, and we give glory to God for every opportunity to strengthen the brethren and reach others with the gospel.

In the evening, we held our Midweek service here in Tuguegarao. Brother Jimmy Duque was originally scheduled to teach, but Brother Rody offered to take his place for the evening.

He delivered a powerful and thought-provoking lesson entitled “What Will It Take to Bring You to God?” The message stirred reflection and touched hearts.

After the lesson, an invitation was extended, and by God’s grace, one precious soul responded. We rejoiced as Wendy Pataueg, from Tumauini, Isabela, obeyed the gospel and was baptized into Christ. She is now our new sister in the Lord.

We praise God for this wonderful addition to His kingdom and continue to pray for Wendy’s growth in faith and service.

July 11

We were invited by Brother Johnson Ramil to visit the brethren and conduct outreach in Barocboc, Sta. Marcela. The travel took us three hours by motorbike, a choice we often make to save on fuel expenses, especially with the rising cost of gas.

Upon arrival, we began our efforts with tract distribution in the town center. It was a hot and sunny day, but the heat didn’t hinder us—we pressed on with joy, knowing we were doing the work of the Lord.

Afterward, we proceeded to the home of one of our brethren near the river, where we held a Bible study and fellowship. Brother Jimmy Duque shared a lesson entitled “Do We Really Love God?” and Brother Dennis Yuson preached on “Things That Are Blessed.”

The study prompted meaningful questions from the attendees, and I was blessed to be asked to help answer some of them. It was an engaging and fruitful time of learning, encouragement, and spiritual growth.

July 12 (Bible study)

As part of our home visitation efforts here in Tuguegarao, we visited the home of Brother Mark Tamaray. His wife and mother, though not yet Christians, are regularly attending our worship services, and we continue to pray for their obedience to the gospel.

Joining us that evening was Mrs. Carmelita, a retired employee of the Department of Education here in Cagayan, who once held a high position and is currently a devout Catholic.

Brother Rody delivered a powerful lesson entitled “The Value of the Soul,” while Brother Flor, Brother Lino, and I led spiritual songs and prayers to encourage everyone present.

Following the lesson, Mrs. Carmelita asked many thoughtful questions—clearly moved and curious about what she had heard. Because it was getting late, we had to end the discussion, but she earnestly requested a follow-up Bible study next week.

We praise God for open hearts and look forward to continuing the conversation and guiding her closer to the truth.

July 13 (Sunday Worships)

We began our Bible study here in Tuguegarao with the first chapter of the Book of John. I was assigned to handle verses 1 to 18. However, I was also asked to include a discussion on doctrines from other denominations—particularly those that deny the deity of Jesus Christ—so we could provide biblical answers to these beliefs. In our first session, I focused on verses 1 to 3, laying the foundation for understanding who Jesus is according to the Scriptures.

During the sermon, Brother Rody preached from Esther chapters 8 to 10. At the end of the message, the invitation was extended, and we are thankful that one mother, Mrs. Soledad Palogan, came forward to confess her faith in Christ. She has been regularly attending our worship services for almost three months now. We give praise to God for this encouraging response.

In the afternoon, at Palca, Brother Robert delivered a very encouraging lesson about Samson, focusing on the things we, as children of God, should avoid. It served as a strong reminder of the consequences of compromising our faith and identity in Christ.

Later in Dagupan, I preached a lesson entitled, “What Would It Take for You to Follow God?”—a message originally shared by Brother Rody last Wednesday. I felt it was especially appropriate for the congregation, considering some of the current situations we are facing within the church. The lesson aimed to challenge and encourage the brethren to renew their commitment and walk more faithfully with the Lord.

July 15 (Tracts distribution and bible study)

We were invited by Brother Fernando Duque to Tupang, Alcala, where he is currently serving as the local preacher. Upon arrival, we began with the distribution of Bible tracts throughout the area, reaching out to the local community.

Afterward, we held a Bible study near a river, hosted at the home of the Peralta family. During the study, Brother Jay Gumpad delivered a powerful and uplifting lesson about the life and preaching of the Apostle Paul.

At the conclusion of the lesson, the invitation was extended—and we rejoice to share that one precious soul obeyed the gospel. Edwin Peralta responded in faith and was baptized in the nearby river. We give all glory to God for adding another soul to His kingdom.

July 16 (Tracts distribution and bible study)

We were invited by Brother Dennis Yuson to visit Wagud, Pinukpok. The travel took almost two hours, and as usual, we used our motorbikes to save on fuel and for easier mobility, especially through narrow and rough roads.

Upon arrival, we divided into two groups. I joined the first group, which went out to distribute Bible tracts throughout the area. The second group conducted a Bible study at the home of one of the village chieftains, where Brother Fernando Duque shared the lesson.

Afterward, we all gathered at the house of one of the brethren for another Bible study. This time, Brother Edgar Corpuz and Brother Jimmy Duque delivered powerful messages from Romans 5:1–10 and on the topic of “The Faith That Saves.”

I’m also thankful that when I arrived home, it was only then that the heavy rain began. Once again, God protected us throughout the journey, and we give Him all the glory for His care and guidance.

In the evening, we held our midweek service here in Tuguegarao. We were blessed to have Brother Craig "Roland" Myer with us once again. At the request of our elders, he was invited to lead the Bible study for the evening. His presence and teaching continue to be a great encouragement to the congregation.

July 19 (Bible study)

We visited again the home of Brother Mark Tamaray. When we arrived, Mrs. Carmelita was already there—an hour early. Her eagerness to hear the Word of God is truly evident. Although she is currently struggling to walk due to a fractured leg from a recent fall, she still makes every effort to join us.

Together with the elders who came, we led songs and prayers, and Brother Rody delivered a lesson titled “Where Are the Dead?” Once again, Mrs. Carmelita asked many thoughtful questions, all of which were answered directly from the Scriptures. It is truly a joy to witness her growing interest and hunger for God’s truth.

For now, she is still unable to join us in the church due to her injury, so we kindly ask for your prayers for her quick healing and full recovery.

July 20 (Sunday Worships)

For our Bible study here in Tuguegarao, I continued with my lesson from the Book of John, covering John 1:4–13 in this session. We discussed how Jesus is the true Light who gives life, and how receiving Him leads to becoming children of God.

During the sermon, Brother Rody preached from the Book of Job, offering timely reflections on faith during trials and the sovereignty of God.

In the afternoon, we traveled to Palca, where I shared the lesson entitled “Woman of Purpose.” As I mentioned previously, most of the brethren in Palca are women, and I believe this message will encourage them and strengthen their role in the growth of the church through service, faith, and godly example.

Later that day in Dagupan, Brother Robert delivered a message from Philippians 2:1–8, reminding us of the humility and selflessness of Christ, and encouraging us to have the same mindset in our relationships within the church.

July 23

As one of the preachers here in Tuguegarao, I took the initiative to invite fellow preachers whom I regularly work with in the ministry. For this effort, Brother Rody generously covered the cost of printing the Bible tracts we distributed. The printing was more expensive than usual because I currently do not have a functional printer.

Normally, I print the tracts myself free of charge for most of our distributions, but at this time, I’m unable to do so. I continue to pray that, through God’s providence, He will help supply this need so that the work can continue unhindered.

We divided into groups and went to different streets for the distribution. I received encouraging reports from the brethren—some even had meaningful discussions with individuals from a Baptist background and a Muslim member. We are thankful for these opportunities to plant the seed of God’s Word in various hearts.

In the evening, we held our midweek service here in Tuguegarao. Brother Flor, one of our elders, shared a meaningful lesson titled “Three Responses to the Gospel.” The message reminded us of the different ways people respond to God’s Word and encouraged the brethren to remain faithful in both hearing and obeying the truth.

July 24-26

A typhoon recently struck our region, but we are thankful to God that our city was not heavily affected. We also received good news that the brethren in both congregations I work with are safe and well.

However, the continuous heavy rainfall has made it difficult to go out and continue our work as usual. We are praying for better weather so we can resume our outreach and Bible study efforts.

July 27 (Sunday Worships)

In the final part of my lesson on the Book of John, I was able to discuss John 1:14–18 with the group. I also gave a summary of the entire section (John 1:1–18), which covered the portion assigned to me. It was a blessing to walk through this rich passage and highlight the truths about Christ's divinity, His incarnation, and the grace and truth He brought.

During the sermon, Brother Rody preached a lesson from the Book of Psalms, offering encouragement and reflection through its timeless messages of worship, trust, and God's faithfulness.

It was the last Sunday of the month, so our worship services in both Palca and Dagupan were held earlier than usual. Early in the morning, Brother Jay called me and expressed his desire to come along with me to Dagupan. There, he delivered the sermon entitled “Be Saved Now, Not Later,” reminding the brethren of the urgency of salvation and the importance of responding to God’s call without delay.

July 29 (Tracts distribution and bible study)

We were invited by Brother Joeben Jacobo and Brother Wilfredo Agustin to visit Abariongan, Sto. Niño. We had heard about a new road that could serve as a shortcut to the area, so we decided to take that route, thinking we would arrive early. However, midway through the trip, we encountered a muddy and slippery road, which caused significant delays. By the time we arrived, Joeben and Wilfredo had already completed the tract distribution.

After lunch, we proceeded to another village in Calapangan, Sto. Niño, where we also conducted tract distribution. We then visited the home of the in-laws of Brother Jimmy Duque, the Notra family, for a Bible study. In their household, only two of the children are Christians.

Brother Jerome Forelo was asked to preach and shared a lesson on Salvation and the True Church of Christ, as the family had mentioned that they worship with a "Church of Christ" congregation. Upon further discussion, we discovered that the group they attend is an instrumental church, which is different from the New Testament pattern. Lord willing, we hope to return to them and continue the study, praying for open hearts and understanding.

On our way back, we chose not to take the supposed shortcut again. Instead, we traveled via the main highway, which made the journey smoother and safer.

July 30 (Tracts distribution and bible study)

I once again invited my fellow preachers to join me in reaching out to a new area where I hope to find new contacts we can invite to the church in Dagupan. We went to Villa Laida, Tuao, a place where there are currently no Christians. Our first step was to conduct tract distribution, and as usual, we divided into groups.

One group engaged in a meaningful discussion with a woman who showed a genuine interest in the Bible. She mentioned that many denominations had already visited her for Bible studies, but none of them were able to convince her. We are hopeful, and Lord willing, we will return on August 6 to continue the study with her.

As for my group, we also distributed tracts and had a conversation with the village chieftain. We shared with him our purpose for coming, and to our surprise, he expressed interest in having a Bible study in their village hall office next week. With that, we now have two Bible studies scheduled in Villa Laida for next week—one with the interested woman and another with the community in the village hall.

Please pray with us that God will open more hearts and doors in this new preaching area.

In the evening, we held our midweek service here in Tuguegarao. We were blessed to have Brother Otey Pastor visiting us, and the elders invited him to teach during the service. He shared a timely and encouraging lesson titled “Devoted to Fellowship,” emphasizing the importance of building strong relationships within the body of Christ and being actively involved in the life of the church.

July 31 (Bible study)

We visited the home of Sister Joy Macapiya, who, along with her sister Krizel, originally came from Palca, where I serve as their preacher. Sister Joy has been living in Tuguegarao since 2015, while Krizel remains an active member in Palca and only visits Tuguegarao occasionally to help care for her sister’s children.

For this visit, they also invited their neighbors to join us for the gathering. We spent time singing spiritual songs and offering prayers together. Brother Rody then shared a meaningful lesson from God’s Word, making it a spiritually uplifting time for everyone present.
