Preaching activities from August 3-31, 2022

 August 3 (Midweek service)

We continue to invite preachers from other congregation to teach in our midweek bible study. This time, it was brother Manny Pader who is a preacher at Bagunot and Santiago Church. He shared to us a great lesson about "Time to wake up"

August 5 (Bible Lectureship)

We fetch brother Keith in the airport early morning and we went straight to our bible study after that here in Tuguegarao. This is a preachers lectureship where preachers from different towns came here to join us. Brother Keith Greer taught about the "Sin of dishonesty". He preached this because there are filipino preachers who are taking advantage of the generosity of american brethren. Someone told me that a preacher here keeps on asking money everytime he sends a report to the congregation where his daughter is attending in America. While listening to the report of his father in front of their congregation, his daughter felt very shameful and that's the reason why she never attends the services anymore. That's sad because of what this preacher did that makes his daughter unfaithful to the Lord. He became the stumbling block. There are a lot of things discussed by brother Keith about dishonesty of preachers and I am praying that this should stop.

In the afternoon, brother Jay and I brought brother Keith to Lanna Church where brother Jimmy Domingo is preaching. He preached the lesson "Open our eyes?". After the lesson, invitation was extended and there were 2 precious souls who obeyed the gospel.

August 6 (Gospel Meetings)

In the morning was our scheduled Gospel Meeting at Palca Church. We also invited the brethren at Dagupan to come. Brother Keith was the first speaker and he preached about "Will we be happy with sin?". And brother Rody followed with a lesson on "Proverbs 27:1-7". We extended the invitation and there were two precious souls who obeyed the gospel. One is Jaylord who is attending our services at Palca and the other one is Denisia from Dagupan.

In the afternoon, we went to the Gospel Meeting at Maguirig Church where brother Jerome is preaching. Brother Keith first preached again and he shared "A brief glimpse of judgment" then followed by brother Rody "Proverbs 27:8-14". There were also four young ladies who confess their faith and was baptized into Christ.

August 7 (Sunday Worships)

In our young people class, I shared to them Luke 9:28-62. We continue to have the 9 attendance in our class. There are many young people in the congregation, but sad to say that they are always late. There are some of them who only arrives in the middle of the sermon already. I am suggesting to the elders that we should stop the live streaming already because there are those who only watch in the livestream and never attends the worship anymore. They are no longer in fellowship with the brethren. But as their decision, we will still do it. 

In the sermon, brother Keith also mentioned about the live streaming and he told us the same thing that's why they ended doing it. The topic of his sermon is "I want to be a worker for the Lord" and as a worker of the Lord, we should never forsake our assembling together.

In the afternoon at Palca, I preached the whole chapter of Luke 9 while in Dagupan, Jhian preached the lesson "Trials that come into our life" then I followed with the lesson on Luke 9 also.

August 8  (Radio Program)

Brother Jay preached in the radio because I went to the burial of my uncle.

August 9 (Gospel Meetings)

In the morning, we went to the Gospel Meeting at Babalag Church where brother Geronimo Ganela is preaching. Outside of the building, they are trying to rebuild the chapel to make it bigger because they can no longer accommodate the number of brethren inside. Brother Keith preached the lesson about "Life instruction manual" and brother Jerome summarized it in our language. There were 11 who were converted into Christ in the meeting.

In the afternoon, brother Jay and I brought brother Keith to Lingu Church where brother Robert Rances is preaching. He also shared the lesson about "Open our eyes" as requested by their preacher. One young lady confessed her faith and was baptized.

August 10 (Gospel Meeting)

In the morning, we went to Minagbag Church where brother Jay Gumpad is preaching. Brother Keith preached the lesson about "The perfect match" which is about marriage and the church. Invitation was extended and 9 precious souls obeyed the gospel.

In the evening, we had our midweek service. Brother Efren Respicio was invited and he preached about "Hebrews 12:1-2".

August 12 (Visitation at Palca)

I went to visit again sister Emy Rivard and here daughter Skyla. They just arrived coming back from Manila where they brought brother Ricky in the international flight going back to the US to visit his sick father. I shared the words of God to them and prayed for the healing of her father-in-law.

August 14 (Sunday worships)

In our young people class, I shared to them Luke 10:1-23. In the sermon, I am also the one who preached and I shared the lesson "Peter's Legacy"

In the afternoon, I also preached the same lesson in Palca and Dagupan.

August 17 (Midweek service)

In our midweek service, brother Jerry Soliva was invited who is a preacher at Sampaguita Church. He shared the lesson about "Elder's duties".

August 18 (Gospel Meeting)

Brother Jay and I traveled to Cabuluan Church to join the gospel meeting where brother Fidelfin Miranda is preaching. Brother Keith preached the lesson entitled "Why?", it is all questions about the church answered.

August 21 (Sunday Worships)

I taught in our young people class Luke 10:25-41. In the sermon, I preached about "For what reason have you sent for me?" in Acts 10.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I preached to them about "The Nobleman's son healed".

In Dagupan, Henry taught first about "Acts of worship", then I followed with the lesson about "The good Samaritan".

August 22 (Radio Program)

I also preached in the radio program about "The good samaritan".

August 24 (Midweek service)

Brother Randy Lamarca was invited and he is a preacher at Kinama and Dagupan Church in Kalinga Province. He sacrifice coming with just his motorbike even though it is raining. HE shared a wonderful lesson about "You are not your own". All our body parts are not our own and so we need to use it as God wants.

August 28 (Sunday Worship)

I didn't went to visit brethren for the last days because I have a continuous migraine for almost 3 days straight. 

In our young people class, I summarized to them Luke 11-12. In the sermon, brother Flor Constantino, one of our elders preached the lesson "The parable of the lost son"

In Palca, Jhian preached the sermon on "You are lost, unless..." and I also added some verses to discuss after him.

In Dagupan, I preached about "What can we learn about the characters in 2 Samuel 11 and 12.

August 31 (Midweek service)

Brother Robert Pader was invited and he preached about "The only way is to obey".

Preaching activities from July 6-August 1, 2022

 July 6 (Midweek service)

We had already started with inviting other preachers from several congregation to come and preach to us on Wednesday. Brother Rogelio was the first to come. He share to us about "David's Friends. We should also look for friends who can help us grow spiritually.

July 7 (Palca)

I went to visit the family Llones. They are a family with different religions. 6 of them are members of the Lord's church. Their are also Methodist, Pentecost and Catholics. I shared to them about the true Church that Jesus' built. They asked many questions and I only use the bible to answer them. 

July 8 (Calantac)

We went to visit my Uncle in Calantac. They asked me to come and pray for him because he is very ill and needed dialysis. I also shared to them the words of God to inspire them and believe in the true God. They are all Catholics and I've been preaching to them everytime I go to their town. Sadly, my uncle died July 31 in  the hospital.

July 10 (Sunday services)

I continue to teach the teenagers here in Tuguegarao. We studied Luke 7. We are only 9 and sometimes 10 in attendance even though there are other teens in the church. They are the only once who come early. Sad to say that even though we keep telling everyone to come early, many still come late and only attend our worship. 

In the Sermon, brother Rody preached on Proverbs 29:1-7.

In the afternoon, at Palca, I asked Henry to preach. He shared about the "Second Coming of Christ". Together with Jhian, we work together. He led the singing while I make additional points of the lesson at the end. They are still young and need to learn more. I continue to work with them so that they will improve. Praying that someday they can also stand on their own and open new congregations.

In Dagupan, I preached to them about "Different seasons of life" in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

July 11 (Radio program)

I went to preach in the radio program the lesson on Acts 10, about Cornelius needing to hear what Peter will preach.

July 13 (Midweek service)

Our next guest preacher is brother Robert Rances, the preacher at Lingu Church of Christ and also at Alibago Church. He shared to us "Why do we need to prepare?"

July 14 (Dagupan)

Together with Jhian and Henry, we visited sister Jobelyn Tappa. We have long conversation and also share the words of God to her and her family. Her mother is blind and she is the one taking care of her. 

July 16-21 (Hospital)

We've been in the hospital for 6 days because my wife had this kidney stones that make her feel very painful. Several tests are made and that's when they found out she had those. When we were sent home, she still have one remaining stone of her left kidney that's why they gave her two months prescription of medicines. I am the only one who can be with her in the hospital because they won't allow my 15 year old daughter to replace me. I needed to be around always because she feels sudden pain and also they asked me to go and look for her medicines. She feels better now and thank you for all the prayers.

July 24 (Sunday service)

For the teenagers class, we studied Luke 8. We have a booklet that we are studying but it is incomplete that's why I told them that we will study chapter by chapter instead.

In the sermon by brother Rody, he preached on Proverbs 29:15-21"

In the afternoon at Palca, Jhian preached to us about "Do you know God?" Then I followed up with a lesson about "Choosing the right road". I am happy that we have two returning visitors and one unfaithful sister to come back to church.

In Dagupan, Henry shared to us "Second coming of Christ" and I also preached the same lesson to them. 

July 25 (Radio Program)

I preached in the radio program about Matthew 23. I shared the whole chapter for about 30 minutes airing time only. It was difficult to shorten it but I hope I did well.

July 27 (Midweek service)

Our invited speaker is brother Jun Antonio, the preacher at Catarauan and Nabialan Church. He shared to us the lesson "3 acts of a Believer"

July 29 (Distribution of Invitation)

Together with Jhian and Henry once again, we went to distribute invitations for our upcoming Gospel Meeting (August 6). I planned to start it early because my wife's next check-up is August 3 and 5. Doctor's clinic are always full and it might take us a whole day just to finish it. 

Our guest speakers will be brother Keith Greer and brother Rody Gumpad.

July 30 (Young People Lectureship)

Brother Efren Respicio invited me and brother Jay Gumpad to teach the young people in his congregation at Cadaanan Church. We also brought our children to join them so that they will also be introduce to brethren from other places. We both have problems with our health during that time. Brother Jay have migraine and I have diarrhea, but still, with God's help, we finished our job. Brother Jay preached first and he shared about "Friends". I followed up with the lesson  "Why do Christians have problems?". I decided to preached this lesson because for the month of July, 3 suicides are on the news and they are all teenagers. 

July 31 (Sunday services)

In our young people class, we studied Luke 9:1-27. We only finished a few verses because I ask them to read each verse before I explain.

In the sermon, brother Rody preached "Proverbs 29:22-27).

In the afternoon, at Palca, I decided to preached also to them Luke 9:1-27 and same also in Dagupan Church.

Preaching activities from June 8- July 4, 2022

 June 8 (Midweek service)

For our midweek service, we continue to the book of Proverbs with the help of brother Rody. We went through chapter 27:22-27. 

June 9 (Palca)

I went to Palca to visit some of the brethren. I went first to the house of sister Lisa Sabado. I noticed in the last couple of weeks that she is not present in our worships. I found out that she has been in and out of the town because her daughter is asking her to baby sit her grand son when she is in Manila. 

The last place I went to is in the house of sister Chelle Castillo. She is working in Singapore and she sent me a message in facebook that if I can go and visit her kids and try to convince the to attend the services. Thankfully, his son is already joining us every Sunday after this visit.

June 12 (Sunday Worships)

It is the day of Independence here in the Philippines. No work for everybody. We are expecting that all the brethren will come. Unfortunately, some use this opportunity to go on vacation rather than serving God. That is the sad reality sometimes and it breaks my heart to know it. 

I continue to teach in the young people class. We are already on Luke 4:15-20. Aside from that, I am also giving them a short summary of every book the the bible. On that day, I discuss the book of Ezekiel and Daniel.

In our worship here at Tuguegarao, brother Rody preached to us Proverbs 28:1-7.

In Palca, I preached to them the lesson "Only One". I gave to them examples in the bible those who who think they are alone and those who fought alone like Elijah, Gideon, David, Noah and Jesus. We might think that we are alone, but we should remember that God is always with us, fighting on our side as we continue to be a soldier of Christ.

In Dagupan, brother Henry taught in our bible study. He shared the lesson about forgiveness and after that, I also preached the same lesson to them. For the month of June, we have three Sundays that we do not have electricity. We are still having our worship outside the small house of brother Enzo. The roof is just about 3 feet above my head and when it is hot, we are like in an oven. But being a Filipino, we are already used to that kind of weather. Every summer, our town always have the hottest temperature in the whole country. Sometime it even reach 40-45 degrees Celsius that's why we are ok with that. It will not hinder us to worship.

June 13 (Radio Program)

I preached again in the radio and I got one of the character I used in my lesson last Sunday which is Elijah. Sadly, I still continue to hear in the news about suicides. I used Elijah as an example to tell everyone that in our battles with our problems in life, God has already prepared a way of escape 1 Cor. 10:13. Suicide is not an answer to escape our problems, but rather it will give us more problem because we will go to hell. 

June 15 (Midweek service)

Brother Rody is in Manila that's why the elders asked me again to teach in our bible study. I shared to them the lesson "From Earth to Heaven". Just like the song, This world is not my home,  we are just passing by in this world because we are on a journey going to heaven. And while we are here, we need to follow the example of Jesus in a proper way of living, to help our family reach heaven and for our names in the book of life to remain until the coming of Jesus.

June 17 (Dagupan)

Together with Jhian and Henry, we went to visit the houses of our brethren who are no longer attending in our worships. We have a record and we will try to do this when we have the time. We visited several brethren, sister Gaile Tabbu, brother Jerry Mangulad, sister Lyka Abad, sister Maricel Castro and sister Jona Villafuerte.

June 19 (Sunday Worship)

The brethren at Dagupan asked me if we can do the worship in the morning because the house near our meeting place will have a wedding celebration. Here in the Philippines, weddings are loud. They used big speakers for there music. We cannot worship properly with a loud noise.  And so we did our worship in the morning. Jhian taught in our bible study and  I preached in the sermon the lesson about "From Earth to Heaven" .

In the afternoon, at Palca, I also preached the same lesson. Brother Junior, whom I am training to lead songs is now our permanent song leader. And so I will only be leading prayer and sermon. 

June 20 (Radio program)

I preached in the radio about the true church of Christ. I received a message the last time I preach in the program if I can again share to them this lesson. I always give my contact number so that if they have any questions or lessons they want to hear, I can prepare it for them.

June 22 (Midweek service)

Brother Rody is already with us and so he was the one who taught in our bible study. My laptop is not working that's why we use my phone to do the live streaming over facebook. We discussed Proverbs 28:8-21.

June 23 (Palca)

I visited again the brethren at Palca. This time I went to sister Maria Andrada. She is one of our old sisters in the church, a widow and her grandkids are also christians, Bea and Jamycah. Just like I usually do in my visitations, we read the bible and pray together. 

June 24 (Piat)

I went to visit sister Teresita Puselero in the hospital in the Piat. She is a member in Dagupan church but they needed to bring her to the next town because there is not hospital in their area. She had acute gastritis. They only allow me limited time to be inside because they are still very strict regarding covid.

June 26 (Sunday Worships)

In our young people class, we studied Luke 6:12-49 and also the book of Hosea and Joel.

In our worship, we have a visitor coming from Ilocos Norte, brother Rolando Salvador and he preached about "The potter and the clay"

In the afternoon, at Palca, I preached to them John 9 about the Blind man who sees. Many today are like  the people during that time. They can see the truth, but they close their eyes. They hear the gospel, but cover their ears. Sadly, many knew they are in error but seems they do not care. 

In Dagupan, Henry taught in our bible study and I preached in the sermon the same lesson.

June 27 (Radio Program)

I preached in the radio Matthew 13:15. It is like a follow-up to what I preached last Sunday. The brethren in Palca and Dagupan are always listening to the program and I am happy for that.

June 29 (Midweek service)

We continue with our study on the book of Proverbs and we are already in the 28th chapter verses 22-28. On the first week of July, we will have guest preachers from all over the region who will be teaching in our midweek service. Brother Rogelio Esperanza will be the first one to teach next week.

July 1 (Palca)

I heard that sister Melissa Leyba came back to Palca and I decided to go and visit them. They are already staying in Cavite which is 14 hours from here. I have good conversation with them and also shared to them God's word. They've been trying to locate the right church in their area for so long. There are churches of Christ near them, but all of them are liberals. I contacted brother Junie Samontina because he is one of the preacher in that region, and we found the right place for them to worship. They went back the next day in Cavite and I am happy to hear that they are already with that congregation.

July 3 (Sunday Worship)

In our young people class here in Tuguegarao, we studied Luke 7:1-50 and the books of Amos, Obadiah and Jonah. In our worship, brother Rody preached Proverbs 29:1-10.

In the afternoon, in Palca, I preached to them "Why do Christians have problems?". I decided to preach this lesson because of what happened to sister Teresita's health. I just want them to realized that it is just a part of our life and trials is happening to everyone. We just need to have faith in our God because He is always there to protect and help us.

In Dagupan, brother Jhian taught in our bible study about "Who is God?" and I also preached the same lesson to them. No electricty again, but we have a good time worshipping our God.
